Camp Winfield Gets a Helping Hand

A group of local realtors and area gas stations are set to help raise funds for Camp Winfield.

Bill Hubbard, owner/broker of Century 21 Executives Realty Ltd. (Vernon), Century 21 Assurance Realty Ltd. and Real Rousseau, broker, Century 21 Executives Realty Ltd., chose the BC Lions Society Easter Seals Camp in Winfield as their charity for this year.

Thanks to a partnership between Derek Bannister and Ashlea Mackintosh of Husky Gas Stations, Husky will pay the charity two per cent of all purchases organization members make at Husky and Mohawk Stations and Husky House Restaurants until December 31, 2010. All purchases are eligible except for lottery tickets and tobacco products, as it's not legal to include these products in the program.

Husky will issue Husky Community Rebate program swipe cards which will be handed out to realtors who will give them to their clients. As clients use the cards, Camp Winfield will benefit.

The dream is to be able to raise $100,000 for Camp Winfield.

"It is my hope that we will also host several charity barbecues and other events throughout the year with all the proceeds going towards the BC Lions Society Easter Seals Camp Winfield," said Tracee Hopkins, customer care program manager, Century 21 Executives Realty Ltd.

BC Easter Seals Camps provide free overnight summer camping experiences for children and teens with physical and/or mental disabilities throughout British Columbia.
