Paddle for the Kids Prepares to Hit the Water!
The Peninsula Paddle for the Kids is gearing up for another big year, all in support of children with disabilities on Vancouver Island. Now in its 32nd year, this annual event is organized by an amazing group of dedicated paddlers from the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club.
On Saturday, March 23rd, members of the Club will hit the water at the crack of dawn for a gruelling 10-hour long paddle circumnavigating the Saanich Peninsula from Brentwood Bay to the Gorge Waterway. A very special thank you to Spinnakers for once again hosting the event kick-off breakfast on February 10th.
All of the money raised by the Peninsula Paddle for the Kids stays right here on the Island to help fund the British Columbia Lions Society’s programs and services - including Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan. Last summer, nearly 300 children with disabilities from all over Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands enjoyed a weeklong camping session at Camp Shawnigan, thanks in large part to incredible community-spirited events such as these.
