16th ANNUAL
EASTER SEALS FESTIVAL OF BOATS
SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2012
Under beautiful sunny skies the Vancouver Island sailing community hoisted their sails last Saturday, to raise funds for children with disabilities on Vancouver Island. The Easter Seals Festival of Boats, a project of the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities, has raised more than $744,000 over the past 16 years!! A variety of sail and power boats from local sailing clubs including Royal Victoria Yacht Club, CFSA (Canadian Forces Sailing Association), Capital City Yacht Club and Sidney North Saanich Sailing Club came out to celebrate their amazing fundraising efforts.
While Skippers and their crew participated in the exciting Boating Triathlon, special guests and children who benefit from Easter Seals services enjoyed the view from spectator boats including the Seaquest Explorer. Following the race, everyone enjoyed the on-shore activities, an amazing silent auction, a fabulous dinner prepared by the Royal Victoria Yacht Club and live entertainment by the Naden Band.
Funds raised at the Easter Seals Regatta help fund the BC Lions Society’s programs and services for children with disabilities on Vancouver Island, including Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan and Vancouver Island Easter Seals House. Part proceeds were presented to the Disabled Sailing Association in recognition of their sailing program for kids at Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan.
Along with the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, the event is sponsored by Mount Gay Rum, Pacific Yachting, Caorda Web Solutions, Seaquest Explorations and Thrifty Foods.
All of our Easter Seals Regatta photos have been taken by Andrew Madding of Bow Shot Productions.
